If one day I was walking down the street, and on a whim, decided that the world would be a better place without a certain person, adult or child. If I then proceeded to kill them, without any more justification than it's what I decided was right for me at the time, I would quite rightly be arrested, tried and incarcerated for murder. People who end the lives of others deliberately are classed as criminals, and are judged by the law of the land and sentenced accordingly. This surely is common sense anyone can see that, we can't have people going around playing god, deciding who should live, and who should die. This is exactly what Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin done in the twentieth century, they murdered millions of innocent people between them, thinking they were doing the right thing and never once stopping to consider do I actually have the right to take someone's life? With this in mind surely we must ask the question, Is it alright to allow women of any age, who have decided for whatever reason, that they don't want to continue with their pregnancy, to just go ahead and destroy the life within them? We hear the cries and read the slogans "My body my choice", but what about the choice of their innocent unborn child surely they should have rights to. If a normal level headed person was given the choice, you can live or die, your decision, they would choose to live. No one in their right mind what say die, "I consider it fine for you to just snuff my life out". So why would an unborn child choose any different, why would they agree to die a painful unnecessary death for no reason at all, they wouldn't. We are told that the foetus within the woman's body is just a bunch of cells, a so called blob of jelly and not a living being. This however is a long way from the truth, modern science is very clear on this subject, at the moment of conception a unique organism comes into existence, and as it contains human DNA and is the offspring of human parents it must then be human life.
We are led to believe the that the baby isn't real, and isn't living, until its birth. The scientific evidence and the scientific community refute this claim though.
Dr Micheline Matthews-Roth of Harvard Medical school is quoted as saying " It is scientifically correct to say that an individual human life begins at conception."
Dr. Alfred Bongiovanni, former professor of paediatrics and obstetrics at the University of Pennsylvania, stated: "...I submit that human life is present throughout this entire sequence from conception to adulthood and that any interruption at any point throughout this time constitutes a termination of human life..."
Professor Hymie Gordon, founder of the Mayo Clinic's world famous program in medical genetics, adds: “By all the criteria of modern molecular biology, life is present from the moment of conception.”
Abortion is also more likely to increases the possibility that a women will develop breast cancer. In early pregnancy, levels of oestrogen increase, leading to breast growth in preparation for breastfeeding. Eight medical organizations, including the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute and the National Physicians Centre for Family Resources, have recognized the connection between abortion and breast cancer. On top of this a 2002 study of more than 173,000 American women found that women who aborted were 154% more likely to commit suicide than women who carried to term.
Over two million couples are waiting to adopt just in America alone. The number of children that are available to be adopted comes nowhere near satisfying the demand. Obviously supply doesn’t meet demand. The percentage of infants given up for adoption has declined from 9% of those born before 1973 to 1% of those born between 1996 and 2002. In the same time the rate of abortions have soared. Instead of having the option to abort, women should give their unwanted babies to people who cannot conceive. This would make many willing parents incredibly happy and promote better health for the natural mother of the child.
